About Us
We are . . .
A privately held firm with the strength of a national
network of Subject Matter Experts in real estate law,
practice, education, testing, and license law regulation.
From Morgan Testing Services headquarters in New London,
Connecticut, we serve an international community of clients by
applying the best of those skills to their needs.
We began . . .
In 1998, John R. Morgan returned to his native Connecticut
to found a company that provides test development consulting
services with a focus on real estate license exams.
Morgan entered the field of professional testing through
graduate school training at Brown University; this foundation
was considerably strengthened at the Educational Testing
Service in Princeton with years of preparing SAT-Verbal and
AP-Literature exam material.
Following a brief sabbatical period selling real estate in
Tucson, Arizona, Morgan spent several years in charge of the
country's largest real estate test development program for
state licensure with an average of 20 client jurisdictions; he
traveled to most of these states to review, revise, and
otherwise groom and enhance each state's license exams.
We continue . . .
Since then, Morgan Testing Services has been serving
clients in government agencies, publishing, education, and
examination services.
Recent projects have included
- facilitation of state-wide instructor review of
prelicensing curricula for South Carolina's salesperson,
broker, and property manager courses and subsequent preparation of
revised curricula guidelines for these prelicensing courses,
- performing a comprehensive revision of real estate
licensing exams for the government of Bermuda, and
- preparing a Guide to Bermuda Real Estate that introduces
candidates for licensure there to real estate principles and
practices as well as pertinent Bermuda laws governing real
estate licensees.
Further, in an effort to share Morgan Testing Services’ hallmark
incisive treatments of complex subjects with the broadest
audience, in 2002 we launched a publishing imprint for materials that
would ultimately serve the real estate profession by better
preparing aspiring licensees.
We are currently developing workshops for
instructors on "item-crafting" and end-of-course testing issues as well as
researching and preparing additional titles for publication.
We also . . .
In addition, Morgan Testing Services has been the primary
sponsor for Web information on the Round the World Voyage
(November 1998 – May 2003) and Now-complete Solo
Circumnavigation (February 1999 – March 2003) of the founder’s
brother, Brec Morgan.
For more information on this voyage as well as the Block Island Landfall & Homecoming Celebration, please go to
www.OtterNews.com.
The website includes links to Trip Reports chronicling the
journey of Brec aboard the Otter, a 27 foot Pacific
Seacraft Orion, from New England to New Zealand.
Further, Morgan Testing Services is a sponsor of the annual
John Morgan Run, a “five-mile classic road race and fun run”
held every July in Jaffrey, New Hampshire.
The John Morgan of the race is, unfortunately, a largely
unknown figure and no relation to our own John Morgan, a
seventeen-time marathoner, who takes the moniker baton in hand
and runs every summer.
Fortunately for the slowest runners, our John Morgan sees
it as the “John Morgan thing to do” to make sure that
“everybody gets to beat somebody in the John Morgan Run,” and
has therefore come in dead last in every one of the seven
races he's run; in 2008 he tied for last with his
three-year-old son, John A. Morgan, who saw most of the
course from a stroller.
